LUXE VEGAN LEATHER

We carefully sourced the world for a vegan leather that could compete with animal leather in both look and feel - and we found it. From the moment we were introduced to our vegan leather, we knew that we were one step closer to making the days of animal sacrifice in fashion a thing of the past.

We are proud to pay more, to give more. We use a modern version of vegan leather that has the microscopic structure and softness of animal leather while being 100% cruelty-free. It’s also more environmentally friendly than leather and unlike cheaper animal-free options

Other benefits include: light-weight, superior durability, no waste, no flaws, no pesticides, easy to maintain and clean, and a water, scratch and stain resistance.

THE SACRIFICES OF THE LEATHER INDUSTRY

THE SACRIFICES OF
THE LEATHER INDUSTRY

THE ENVIRONMENT

The leather industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world, and livestock production is a huge contributor of greenhouse gas emissions.

Not only are trees cut down to create pastureland, but vast quantities of water are used, and run-off from feedlots are a major source of water pollution. A chrome-tanning facility wastes nearly 15,000 gallons of water and produces up to 2,200 pounds of solid waste for every ton of hides that it processes.

The Environmental Protection Agency considers all wastes containing chromium, commonly used in tanning, to be hazardous.

WORKERS

Toxic chemicals involved in the tanning of leather poses a threat to human health and has in cases lowered the life expectancy of the workers. Arsenic, a common tannery chemical, has long been associated with lung cancer in workers. Several studies have established links between sinus and lung cancers and the chromium used in tanning.

ANIMALS

Every year, the global leather industry slaughters more than 1 Billion animals. Many of these animals endure all the horrors of factory farming - including extreme crowding and confinement, deprivation, and unanesthetized castration, branding, and tail-docking - as well as cruel treatment during transport and slaughter.

The skins of unborn calves and lambs - some purposely aborted, others from slaughtered pregnant cows and ewes - are considered a ‘luxury’. Many species are hunted and killed specifically for their skins, including zebras, bison, kangaroos, elephants, crocodiles, alligators, ostriches, lizards, and snakes.

THE VEGAN CHOICE

Vegan materials are constantly evolving and with new high quality materials it’s now possible to have the microscopic structure and softness of leather, but without the negatives to our world, animals, and fellow human citizens. New vegan materials are not only cruelty free and have a low carbon footprint but offer other benefits as well, such as a light-weight, are easy to maintain and clean, have no flaws, have no waste and have a water, stain and scratch resistance.
